I now have my subnet set to 255.255.255.0 with the first three octets matching for my computer, PLC, and HMI and everything is working. Thanks for all the help I really appreciate everything!I am very familiar with PLCs and how to program ladder level logic. What I am not familiar with is Allen Bradley hardware (normally use Siemens). I have a panel here with a SLC 5/05 controller and a PanelView Plus 700 HMI.I have just got through the headache of getting RSLogix 500, FactoryTalk View Studio, and RSLinx Classic installed on my computer. I have everything working so far and I can download projects to both the PLC and the HMI.What I can't do at the moment is get them to talk to each other.
I have a TEST momentary push button on the HMI linked to a TEST binary tag from the PLC. When I press the button I get 'Problem writing value '0' or '1' to item.'
Any help with this??If anyone could give me the beginning steps I need to get everything up and running so that I can begin to make screens and talk back and forth to my ladder logic that would be great!!! I cant get it to show any of the ones that I named in RS Logix. RSLogix 500 and SLC-500 controllers still use ordinary Data Table addresses in FactoryTalk View.
The Symbols and Descriptions that you enter in RSLogix 500 are purely for use within RSLogix 500 and are not browsable from within FactoryTalk View.So you'll be able to browse Data Table addresses like 'N7:10', but not Symbol names.As mentioned, you have the option of using HMI tags or Direct Reference addresses. The selected tag looks like this: A14367PLCB3When I load this to both the PLC and HMI I get an HMI error saying Timed out reading B3:0 from A14367PLC at 169.254.213.80.I am connected to the PLC & HMI through a 4 port unmanaged switch to my computer. AB is generally more simple and less complex than Siemens. Just my opinion.There may be.EDS file issues or Firmware restrictions or other BS. Maybe try getting the connection to work with DF1 first? Idk just my 2c.
